Get a 20% statement credit with new Marriott, Mandarin Oriental Amex Offers

admin

If you have a hotel stay coming up this fall and hold an American Express card, listen up: You may be able to save some serious cash or take home a solid haul of bonus points on your next trip. Many American Express cardholders have reported that they’ve been targeted for deep discounts at major hotel chains through the Amex Offers program.
Marriott Amex Offer
You can get a 20% statement credit after spending at $300 or more at Marriott properties from Oct. 18 through New Year’s Eve.

This offer is only valid at Marriott properties in U.S. and U.S. territories, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. You must book directly with Marriott, either by calling, online or through the Marriott Bonvoy app. Note that several Marriott brands are excluded from this promotion, including Marriott Vacation Club, Edition, St. Regis Hotels, The Ritz-Carlton, The Luxury Collection, W Hotels, JW Marriott Hotels, Vistana, Design Hotels, Protea Hotels, Homes & Villas by Marriott International and Marriott Executive Apartments.
Mandarin Oriental Amex Offer
Some TPG staffers saw an offer for a $100 statement credit after spending $500 or more at Mandarin Oriental hotels in the U.S. from Oct. 18 through Dec. 31.

The offer is only valid for bookings made at Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group properties in the U.S. You must book directly at the U.S. website mandarinoriental.com, in-person or by calling 800-526-6566. Note that this offer excludes gift card and e-gift card purchases and the offer is for one single purchase totaling $500 or more.
MGM Amex Offer
Two Amex offers at MGM properties in Las Vegas and around the U.S. are offering sizable bonus points after meeting the minimum spending requirement. Here’s what you need to know.

You will earn 10,000 MR points after spending $500 or more at MGM properties in Las Vegas, including Bellagio, ARIA, Vdara, MGM Grand Las Vegas, The Signature at MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, Delano Las Vegas, Park MGM, NoMad Las Vegas, and The Mirage. You must book online at mlife.com, by phone, or through the app. Note that this offer excludes all other MGM Resorts destinations. We value Membership Rewards points at 2 cents each, making this offer worth $200.

For this offer, you’ll earn 5,000 MR points after spending $250 or more at select U.S. hotels such as New York-New York, Luxor, Excalibur, Beau Rivage, Gold Strike, Borgata, MGM National Harbor and MGM Springfield.

TPG’s Victoria Walker saw both offers on The Business Platinum® Card from American Express, though it may also be available on other Amex cards.

Neither spending requirement should be difficult to reach. For instance, a weekend stay at the Bellagio in Las Vegas in early November will only cost $289 a night, before taxes and fees, easily meeting the spending requirement. Note that both offers expire Jan. 5, 2020.

And this is just the latest hotel offer Amex users are being targeted for.

Some cardholders are seeing an offer for 2,000 American Express Membership Rewards points after spending $100 at Best Western hotels in the U.S., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands through Nov. 25, 2019.

A similar Best Western Amex offer for a 20% statement credit after spending $100 or more is also showing up for some cardholders.

You’ll need to book directly with Best Western between Sept. 25 – Nov. 25 to get this offer.

Oceana – Santa Monica Luxury Hotel Amex Offer
Some TPG staffers are seeing an offer for a $100 statement credit after spending $500 or more at Oceana, a five-star luxury hotel in Santa Monica, California.

Here’s what you need to know.

You’ll receive the statement credit after meeting the spending requirement and booking directly with the hotel. Note that the offer is not valid for stays that are paid for before the promotion start date or after the promotion end date. Keep in mind that amenities, meetings, or events not charged to a room, purchases or reservations made through third-party sites or agents, and affiliate hotel locations are excluded.
Marriott luxury brands Amex Offer
TPG staffers have also seen targeted offers at several luxury Marriott Bonvoy branded hotels.

Here’s how it works.

You will receive a one-time $100 statement credit after spending $500 on your targeted card at select Marriott luxury brands, including EDITION, The Ritz-Carlton, The Luxury Collection, St. Regis, W Hotels & JW Marriott until Dec. 31. Note that some other luxury brands like Le Méridien and Autograph Collection are excluded. It’s only valid for properties in the U.S., U.S. territories, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean.

We first spotted this offer on The Business Platinum® Card from American Express, though it may also be available on other Amex cards. Keep in mind that you must book directly at www.marriott.com or through the Marriott Bonvoy app.
Hilton luxury brands Amex Offer
Several TPG staffers were targeted for a new offer at Waldorf Astoria or Conrad on The Platinum Card® from American Express. It may also be available on other Amex cards.

Here’s how it works.

You will receive a one-time $70 statement credit after using your eligible card and spending at least $350 at select Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts and Conrad Hotels & Resorts from now until New Year’s Eve. Note that you must book directly with Waldorf Astoria & Conrad. Since you’re booking direct, you’ll be able to earn elite credits and Hilton points at these hotels because they’re both part of the Hilton Honors program.

The offer is only eligible for stays in the following countries: China, Germany, France, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Singapore, Thailand, the United States and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Lastly, note that this offer excludes all other Hilton brands and that you must complete the transaction by Dec. 31.

Cambria Hotels Amex Offer
But wait! There are even more Amex Offers that can save you cash on your next hotel stay.

Several TPG staffers were targeted for an offer at Cambria Hotels on several cards, including The Platinum Card® from American Express, The Business Platinum® Card from American Express and The Blue Business® Plus Credit Card from American Express.

You’ll receive a one-time $30 statement credit after spending at least $150 at Cambria hotels. Note that some Choice hotels are excluded, including Quality Inn, Clarion, Econo Lodge and Comfort. The offer isn’t valid on Vacation Rentals by Choice and points purchases for the Choice Privileges rewards program. Keep in mind that you have to book directly at Choice Hotels to trigger the offer.
Peninsula Hotels Amex Offer
A Peninsula Hotels targeted offer will get you either a $100 statement credit or 10,000 bonus Membership Rewards points after spending $500 or more at Peninsula Hotels in the U.S., Tokyo and Paris. You must book either directly through the hotel’s website or by calling 866-382-8388. Note that the promotion isn’t valid for stays paid for before the promotion start date or after the end date.

There are several Peninsula hotels in the U.S., including Beverly Hills, Chicago and New York. And while the terms of the offer explicitly state that you must book directly, you may still get the credit by leveraging your Amex Platinum and the card’s Fine Hotels & Resorts program, as long as it isn’t a prepaid rate. However, you’d need to weigh the risk that it wouldn’t qualify with the added perks of Amex FHR before you finalize your reservation.

$100 is a nice discount, but the 10,000 points are far more valuable (worth $200 based on TPG’s most recent valuations). As a result, be sure to check all of your Membership Rewards-earning cards before adding the offer to one. You’d hate to add the $100 one and inadvertently miss out on the 10,000-point one.
Fairmont and Sofitel Amex Offer
Finally, we saw an offer for booking a prepaid, Amex FHR stay that could earn you 16,000 Membership Rewards points on a stay of at least $800. TPG’s Senior Editor, Points Lab Nick Ewen was also targeted for an $80 statement credit after spending $400 or more at Fairmont and Sofitel Hotels & Resorts — which are both members of the AccorHotels family — before mid-December.

As you’ll find with any Amex Offer, the usual restrictions apply. Any of the above can only be added to one card per account holder, so you’ll want to check all of your cards to select the one that offers the best return on the purchase. And these are targeted offers, so you may not see them at all. If you do, I’d encourage you to add them right away, since these tend to have limited enrollment and may disappear before the expiration date.

If you don’t have an American Express card and don’t want to miss out on future offers like this, consider adding The Platinum Card from American Express to your wallet, as it’s offering a welcome bonus of 60,000 Membership Rewards points after you use your new card to make $5,000 in purchases in your first three months. However, you might be eligible for an Amex Platinum 100k points bonus offer using the CardMatch Tool (offer subject to change at any time).

You’ll also receive 5x Membership Rewards points on flights booked directly with airlines or with American Express Travel and 5x points on prepaid hotels booked on amextravel.com. As a Platinum cardholder, you’ll also receive complimentary Gold status with both Marriott Bonvoy and Hilton Honors, so your stays could be even more rewarding.
