Zucca, Fine Italian Dining in Coral Gables

Admin

Located in Coral Gables in the iconic Hotel St. Michel, Zucca, is a restaurant and bar that delivers authentic regional and artisanal Italian cuisine. Open 7 days a week, including not closing between lunch and dinner, this is an ideal spot for a late business lunch, early bite with friends or date night. Zucca is sure to please even the most discerning diner.

Executive Chef Manuel Garcia has been the executive chef at Zucca since 2017 and his attention to detail is obvious in the flavorful Italian delicacies he prepares making Zucca one of the best Italian restaurants in Coral Gables.

A friend and I were invited to dine as guests at Zucca for lunch and we were impressed on every level. From the sophisticated and elegant atmosphere to the excellent service, knowledgeable sommelier and the food.

Oh, the Food. Salumeria, cheeses, antipasti, pastas, sea and land options, contorni and desserts. Courses arrived at a perfect pace. Each highly curated plate showcased the courses at their best: stunning to look at and even better to taste.

We decided to start off the meal with a classic charcuterie board of Prosciutto San Daniele and Parmigiano Reggiano 30 Month. They have an extensive selection of cured meats and cheeses to choose from to create your own charcuterie board.

Next, a must try is one of their signature dishes, Fiori di Zucca Ripieni di Caprino E Miele Al Tartufo, zucchini flowers, stuffed with goat cheese, gently fried and sprinkled with truffle honey. It is light and delicious.

Zucca offers a nicely curated selection of antipasti. We decided to try the Crudo Di Pesce Del Giorno. A delicate salmon carpaccio prepared with a lemon, fresh herb vinaigrette and served with watermelon radish and avocado mousse. This dish was well-balanced, refreshing, with just the right amount of vinaigrette so as not to overwhelm the fresh salmon.

The sommelier, Sergio, patiently answered all our questions and was helpful in recommending the perfect wine pairings to enhance our dining experience. We enjoyed a Pierpaola Pecorani, Sauvignon Blanc with both of our starters.

For our next course. Executive Chef Garcia masterfully prepares a variety of pasta dishes. While staying light for the antipasti, we decided to try some of the richer dishes for our next courses.

The creamy Tagliatelle Ai Funghi Misti Con Fonduta Di Parmigiano E Caviale Al Tartufo Nero was heavenly with the blend of wild mushrooms, parmigiano fonduta and black truffle caviar. The sommelier choice pairing of Santa Giulia, Brunello di Montalcino was perfect.

Zucca offers a range of choices of Secondi Di Mare or Di Terra. We decided to try the Filetto Di Manzo Alla Rossini Con Scaloppa Di Foie Gras, Patate E Porri Brasati Al Tartufo Nero a grilled Angus filet mignon topped with seared foie gras, over truffle braised potatoes and leeks. It was outstanding. For this course, we enjoyed a glass of Tormaresca Primitivo Salento Torcicoda. If you prefer a seafood dish, the “Baccala Fresco” Al Guazzetto Di Cozze Con Fregola Sarda, Spinaci E Pomodornini is also a favorite.

Make sure to save room for dessert, the Tiramisu Della Casa is not to be missed. And you can’t go wrong with the Panna Cotta Di Zafferano E Frutti Della Passione.

We decided to end with a dessert cocktail and it was a treat! Prepared tableside, the Sroppino Veneiano, prosecco, vodka, lemon zesters and coffee powder was a perfect ending to a delicious meal.

A special lunch treat, we look forward to returning for dinner, Zucca was top notch from the ambiance to the service to the food.
