Tulle Frame Jewelry Holder | Jewelry Organizer

A few months ago, I noticed a problem in my room. The little jewelry holder I had used for years was just not cutting it any more. My accumulation of bracelets, necklaces, and most of all, earrings, was overflowing onto my dresser in a pile of sparkly chaos! I knew it was time to make a change, and I decided to take matters into my own hands. The result was this big, beautiful jewelry stand put together with vintage frame, tulle fabric and thumbtacks.

Today I will be showing you how to make your own jewelry frame. I used a lightweight vintage window frame in the original project, but for my readers I am recreating the craft using a smaller picture frame, which I have already painted lavender and sprinkled with gold glitter.

What you will need for your DIY jewelry organizer:

  • Scissors
  • Tulle, any color
  • A wooden frame (Either find a simple photo frame at a craft or home store, a source a vintage on from an antique store)
  • Paint and glitter (optional)
  • Flat-headed pushpins
  • Regular thumbtacks
  • A length of ribbon

Step 1

Before you begin, feel free to decorate your frame by painting it your favorite color and even adding some glitz. Keep in mind, though, that this might add on hour or two to the project since you’ll have to wait for it to dry.

Step 2

Cut your tulle into strips to fit the frame. Then, turn the frame upside down and tack the tulle down using pushpins. Be sure not to stretch the tulle too tight; it should be just enough to support your jewelry, but loose enough not to tear. Depending on the size of your frame, tack down additional pieces of tulle until you achieve the desired effect. Trim the excess tulle with scissors.

Step 3

Tie a length of ribbon to the top two corners of the frame in order to hang it from the wall. If you prefer to lean your jewelry holder on your dresser, like I did with my original project, you can skip this step.

If you like, stick a few regular thumbtacks into your frame at an angle. These are perfect for hanging necklaces and bracelets.

And voila! You have yourself a brand-new, handmade jewelry holder on which to display and store all your sparkly baubles!

I hope you enjoyed this craft, and if you try it yourself, be sure to tell us about it in the comments section below!
